There are a handful of hotels and numerous vacation homes to choose from on the West Shore. See below for some tips and suggestions for booking lodging.

The neighborhoods
Tahoe City: The most hustle and bustle location along the West Shore. Not necessarily "serene" but everything is convenient. Shops, restaurants, bars galore. Home to our favorite dive bar, Pete'n'Peters. Talmont is a small neighborhood in Tahoe City that sits up on top of a hill just south of Downtown - if you want convenience and good views of the lake, stay in Talmont.
Timberland, Idlewild and Tahoe Pines: Residential neighborhoods scattered through the middle part of the West Shore. Not home to many immediate conveniences but just a 10-15 minute drive to more of a "there-there".
Homewood and Tahoma: Location of Homewood Mountain Resort and what we think is the best lakeside bar, Chamber's Landing. Calmer environment than Tahoe City but more hustle and bustle than Meeks Bay and Rubicon Bay.
Meeks Bay and Rubicon Bay: These are the neighborhoods furthest to the south along the West Shore. Quiet and tranquil vibes mixed with pristine waters and beautiful shoreline. Definitely feels away from it all. 20-25 minute drive to Tahoe City. Home to the Ceremony + Reception on Saturday!
Vacation Homes
Vacation homes are our preferred accommodation when traveling to the Tahoe Region. We highly recommend booking with a group of friends or family! Get a house with a deck and enjoy the crisp pine smell of the mountains or some amazing lake vistas. There are a number of vacation rental companies in the area (you can start perusing options HERE). If you are looking for some guidance, the following are "Alex Approved" rental companies, and usually when you book directly you save on some unnecessary fees. Remember, look for homes on the West Shore when searching these sites.
